To me, digital ethics are not merely words for debate to be written. Rather, it is a lightning bolt waiting to strike. It ignites powerful conversations. My life mission goes beyond writing about ethics. I work as a consultant and focus on sustainable technologies. From the very start of my career, I have tried to rethink the way countries consider innovation and its relationship with society. My singular mission is to make cutting-edge technologies work in a sophisticated and responsible manner.
Envision a world where algorithms operate with the same transparency that was intended behind them. This is rarely the case today, and it greatly troubles me. That is why I have worked with more than 50 companies internationally over a decade to seek solutions. By 2022, my initiatives were already influencing approximately 100 million AI system users. The ethical frameworks I developed for algorithmic fairness and transparency have set benchmarks across Europe and beyond.
What would happen if technology helped rather than hindered emission levels while tackling global problems? The Institute for Advanced Technology achieved this meta-goal by collaborating with international firms in 2023, lowering the average carbon footprint by 15%. Blockchain posed a challenge, but my co-authors and I developed a sustainable alternative. Today, companies using my recommendations are at the forefront of positive innovation in green technology.
My work extends beyond boardrooms. After publishing over 40 research papers, my ideas shape international policies and corporate decisions. I provided practical recommendations for autonomous systems in my 2021 study, which was widely cited and integrated by EU policymakers into their AI frameworks. Every publication presents a unique opportunity to facilitate real-world change.
What does the future hold for AI ethics? I’ve had the privilege of helping to answer that. As a key contributor to the EU’s 2020 guidelines on ethical AI, I ensured principles like accountability and fairness were more than theoretical ideals. My insights don’t just guide innovation; they help preserve societal values.
I don’t give lectures. I bring lectures to life through purpose-crafted moments of genuine contemplation and self-reflection. Imagine a filled hall with 5.000 attendees engaged in my vision of the societal impact of quantum computing. I have delivered over 100 keynote speeches globally, encouraging audiences to rethink the role of technology. Through my teaching, I am helping to shape a new generation of ethically inclined tech leaders.
My activities have always focused on establishing an ethical framework. More importantly, they focus on legacy-building. I dream of a future where humanity and technology thrive hand in hand. Whether through world-shattering partnerships, cutting-edge journals, or speeches that change perspectives, I am working toward a world where all innovations are geared toward the benefit of everyone. The central issue is not what technology is capable of. To me, it is what technology ought to be capable of.
